Celebrity Fitness sponsors Malaysian sports teams in its CSR initiatives
… re-launch the newly renovated flagship club in Midvalley
Kuala Lumpur, 26 March 2010 – Asia’s fastest growing fitness company, Celebrity Fitness announced its series of CSR initiatives aimed at supporting various Malaysian sports teams; at its newly refurbished Midvalley club today.
The Press Conference saw local sports representatives such as those from the Malaysian Ice Hockey Federation, CHARM (Cheerleading Association and Register of Malaysia), SRGC (Sarina’s Rhythmic Gymnastics Club) Olympic Dream Team, Dream Chaser Drifter Team and also Dream Team Sea Games receiving sponsorship worth more than RM200, 000 collectively.
Said Mr. Hendra Nugraha, Regional Marketing and Promotions Manager of Celebrity Fitness, “We started our CSR initiatives in Indonesia, Turkey, and finally India. Being a fitness chain, we need to support causes that are relevant to us and also the society, hence we choose to support the sporting scene in these countries. Our CSR projects did extremely well, so we adopted it in Malaysia. Now that we are the 2nd biggest fitness chain in the country, we have ample resources to support the various local sports associations.”
Celebrity Fitness had committed to a sponsorship worth RM75, 000 to 24 players of the Malaysian Ice Hockey Federation (MIHF) and RM90,000 worth of sponsorship to 30 gymnasts from CHARM. As for the 10 gymnasts from SRGC Olympic Dream Team and 10 members of the Dream Team Sea Games, each organization would obtain RM30, 000 worth of sponsorship respectively. Lastly, the 5 drivers of the Dream Chaser Drifter Team would be presented with a sponsorship amounting to RM18,000.
The sponsorship was in the form of lifetime membership at Celebrity Fitness. As long as the members of the sponsored organizations were still attached to their respective teams, they were given the full access to all the facilities in the clubs, at all times. Celebrity Fitness has a wide range of experts such as personal trainers, dieticians, counselors, consultants and so forth. All these experts would be able to provide the team members with proper trainings and advices needed to equip them for their competitions and tournaments.
Added Hendra, “If we have the chance, we would want to sponsor all the sports associations in this country. However, we want to be cautious and start small first. If this follows through, we will certainly ‘adopt’ more sports associations. Our selections are very simple. We pick those that need our services and those whom we see have potential in growing into something bigger.”
“Adopting CSR will definitely impact on the internal and external environment of the company. Both management and employees can proudly say that they contribute to the benefit of the society and the community. Moreover, charity-based CSR activities are likely to take a hit whereas sustainability-driven CSR initiatives would make more progress,” commented Hendra.
Aside the announcement of the CSR driven initiatives, Celebrity Fitness also took the opportunity to introduce the newly refurbished Midvalley club.
Managing Director of Celebrity Fitness, Mr. Choi KwangHo who was also present at the Press Conference said, “Our initial plan to revamp this club is because we want a fresh, new look for this place. We want to offer better work out environment for our existing members and also to provide them with better facilities. Nothing is more important than customer satisfaction for us. As long as they are happy, we are happy. Our membership grows everyday. We need ample space to cater to all of them.”
The Midvalley club, which was also the flagship club of all the eight clubs in Malaysia, now boast of its large area; double storey club measuring 45,000 square feet. Aside the expanded Yoga and Aerobics room, there was now a Pilates room specially constructed for the one-on-one sessions. Also, a Kid’s Play Centre facility was also created. This would allow parents to go for their exercise classes with a peace of mind, while their children were being taken care of by the friendly Celebrity Fitness’ staffs. There was also a swimming pool outside the club for members.
Choi added, “This new face-lift will reveal a sleeker and sophisticated look with bigger work-out areas, and also state-of-the art equipments to be enjoyed by members.”
“We have our reasons of adopting the ‘celebrity’ look. If you observe all the eight clubs belonging to Celebrity Fitness, they all adopt the same concept; clean, sleek and sophisticated. Our members are special to us, we want them to feel special too, hence a ‘celebrity’ concept fitness outlet is probably the best way to reward them. Their work out experience should be nothing short of a ‘celebrity’ treatment,” concluded Choi.
The event was then followed by a party for celebrities, members of the media and also invited guests. More than 130 local artistes, such as Mawi, Amber Chia, Daphne iking, Jehan Miskin, Vanessa and Vince Chong, Zizan Nin, Craig Fong, Ferhad, Jeslina Hashim, Jojo Struys, Ning Baizura, Steve Yap, Daniel Lee, Cindy Chen, Hafiz (AF), Emmeline Ng, Pop Shuvit, Carven Ong and Carrie Lee were seen at the launch.
Attractive prizes were given away during the lucky draw sessions that evening. Guests went home with exciting gifts from sponsors such as Bioxil Skin Care, Nutrimetics Cosmetic, Blackmores, Danai Spa, Burberry Sport, Once A Week, Heineken and Cham’alal.
